Hope you've had a good week! We're almost there! Pesach, filled with rituals thousands of years old, commemorating our ancestors' exodus from Egyptian slavery, comes to life each year through the traditions, songs, spoken word and foods we engage in and enjoy. The sights, sounds and tastes of this Festival, take us on a 3,335 year journey of struggle and growth, from ancient Egypt to our here and now. What is personal freedom? Free from what? Free for what? Who am I really? Am I working towards being the best version of myself? Am I aware of my brokenness and of my wholeness? Am I a blessing to others? What positive impact am I making on my environment? What does my faith and heritage mean to me? Do I acknowledge the source of and express gratitude for the daily miracles in my life? As we break, share and eat the simple Matzah with family and friends, let it challenge us to ask these questions and others, and facilitate the discussion of faith, identity, freedom and growth. Rivki & I together with the President, Board of Management and Ronny, wish you and yours a Chag Pesach Kasher v'Sameach - An enjoyable, meaningful, peaceful and liberating Pesach! Shabbat Shalom! Chag Sameach! Good YomTov! Rabbi Shmuel --- See Shule Service schedule below, we'd love to see you! Enjoy the video below for a Pesach message with a musical intro by the Karnowsky Quartet!

Lots of educational and hands-on fun at our Matzah Bakery this week! The children participated in the entire process of grinding the wheat, combining the flour and water, quickly kneading the dough, rolling it out, perforating it and passing it to the baker... and in just a few quick minutes they proudly admired and then devoured their very own Matzah! Each family also went home with an Israeli hand-baked Shmurah Matzah for their Seder.

We don't take our freedom for granted! In my capacity as Police Chaplain, I visited some of our local police stations to talk about Pesach, gift them with Shmurah Matzah and to thank them those who work tirelessly and bravely to protect and ensure our freedom and all that is good and right. Both the St Kilda and Caulfield stations shared a lovely Pesach message on their Facebook pages.

This week's PARSHA is Pesach On the FIRST DAY OF PASSOVER we read from the book of Exodus (12:21-51) of the bringing of the Passover Offering in Egypt, the Plague of the Firstborn at the stroke of midnight, and how "On this very day, G‑d took the Children of Israel out of Egypt." The reading for the SECOND DAY OF PASSOVER, Leviticus 22:26-23:44, includes: a list of the moadim — the "appointed times" on the Jewish calendar for festive celebration of our bond with G‑d; the mitzvah to Count the Omer (the 49-day "countdown" to the festival of Shavuot which begins on the 2nd night of Passover); and the obligation to journey to the Holy Temple to "to see and be seen before the face of G‑d" on the three annual pilgrimage festivals — Passover, Shavuot and Sukkot..
