Hope you've had a good week!
...aaand we're back! After 120 days (!) services will be resuming in our Shule this week (details below). As restrictions continue to ease and Melbourne awakens from her slumber, we're once again able to enjoy things like human interaction, visiting each other at home, coffee with a friend in a cafe... and Shule services! It's about time! Lech Lecha, the name of this week's Parsha and its story line is all about making a move and traveling forth to explore, to discover the world.
But Avraham & Sarah didn't just travel for the sake of traveling, they did so with intent and purpose, ensuring all of their encounters, with places and people, were meaningful and productive and carried out with kindness.
An apt reminder as we begin moving forward to discover our world again. We need to ensure that the novelty of the moment doesn't wear off, that the lessons learnt from months of being in lockdown are not taken for granted - Let us cherish family, value friendships, treasure community and Shule, enjoy nature and the simple things in life. And to go about life with kindness. I'm sure we all know people or businesses who have struggled during this period and are now just able to begin picking up the pieces. Let us show compassion and sensitivity, and support each other, however and whenever we can. Always, but particularly now. With blessings for a peaceful and enjoyable Shabbat and weekend for all. |
