Dear , I trust this finds you well. There is no question that the COVID-19 lock-down has impacted us in so many different ways, but at the same time, thanks to our social distancing efforts we have, thank G-d, avoided the kind of tragedy seen in so many other communities. We must of course continue to be vigilant and do our part in ensuring that the situation continues to improve and does not deteriorate. Earlier this week our Premier announced a partial easing of restrictions. Included within these changes was the allowance for religious services for 10 people plus those conducting the service. In anticipation of such an announcement, local communal leadership organisations, Rabbis and community doctors have been actively engaged in extensive consultations regarding the path forward for Shule services. Shules throughout Melbourne have responded differently, and are making decisions in accordance with their own unique circumstances. The health, safety and well-being of our congregants is our highest priority. We have therefore discussed and considered the various risk factors, restrictions and guidelines still in place, and have concluded that for the time being we will not be resuming services and activities at our Shule. We assure you that we remain abreast of the situation and continue to monitor the government updates. We will inform you on any further decisions we make as we work towards a slow and gradual reopening of our Shule. We thank you for your ongoing support and patience through this trying time. Should you have any questions or comments, please feel free to be in touch. With blessings of continued good health for us all, Mark Kuran – Shule President on behalf of the Board of management president@elwoodshule.org Rabbi Shmuel Karnowsky rabbishmuel@elwoodshule.org • The COVIDsafe app plays an integral role in slowing the spread of COVID-19 and keeping all Australians safe.
